We provide emergency and acute care services across 54 medical specialties to a local community of 290,000 people, in addition to many tertiary services.  Beaumont Hospital is the lead level 4 hospital within the Royal College of Surgeons Hospital Group.  Our aim is to deliver the highest quality of care to our patients, excellent training to our students, and a friendly, stimulating, and professional environment for staff.   The Beaumont Hospital Non-Invasive Cardiology (NIC) Department provides key services for in-patients, out-patients and day care patients under the care of Beaumont Hospital. These services include echocardiography electrocardiography, holter monitoring, exercise treadmill testing and local and remote device monitoring and optimisation (pacemaker, loop recorder, implantable cardiac defibrillator and cardiac resynchronisation therapy).  In addition, we support the hospitals catheterisation laboratories for coronary and electrophysiological diagnostics and interventions and device implantation.   In line with Slaintecare, the Integrated Model of Care for the Prevention and Management of Chronic Disease and National Heart Programme 2021, it is planned to extend cardiac diagnostic services, in particular transthoracic echocardiography, into the community.  It is planned to develop ambulatory care hubs in Dublin North City and County Community Health Organisation (CHO9), one of which will be aligned with Beaumont Hospital, to facilitate improved access to optimal chronic disease management and health promotion.  The aim is to deliver the right care, in the right place, at the right time.  Transthoracic echocardiography will be key to the cardiovascular component of this service.  .    The Senior Cardiac Physiologist will work as a key team member supporting and providing non-invasive cardiac diagnostics.   There are many opportunities for technical and also leadership/managerial skill development in Beaumont Hospital, with a weekly departmental case-based discussion and educational meeting and working towards echo laboratory departmental accreditation.  Opportunities to attend out of house educational courses and meetings are also encouraged and supported.   There are a number of quality improvement projects ongoing in the NIC department and new ideas and initiatives are welcomed.

Post Title: Speech & Language Therapist Post Status: EOI – Panel to be formed for upcoming temp and perm posts Department: Speech and Language Therapy Department Location: Beaumont Hospital, Dublin 9  Reports to: Speech & Language Therapy Manager Salary: Appointment will be made on the Speech & Language Therapist salary scale at a point in line with Government pay policy.  Hours of work:  Full-time, 35 hours per week   Position Summary:   The post holder will be responsible for providing a speech and language therapy service to patients attending  Beaumont Hospital, incorporating the St Joseph’s Hospital campus. The successful candidate will be part of the well-structured, multi-speciality Beaumont Hospital SLT team with excellent support and opportunities for CPD. The service has some current vacancies to fill immediately and a short panel will be created from this competition for future specified purpose contracts.

The Physiotherapy Department facilitates student placements for RCSI and UCD undergraduate and post graduate students. The successful candidate will have responsibility for RCSI students and may be required to assist with UCD student placements pending service needs. The Physiotherapy Department is part of the Clinical Services Division in Beaumont Hospital.

Post Title: Senior Physiotherapist in Acute Rehab Services Post Status: Permanent Department Physiotherapy Location: Beaumont Hospital, Dublin 9  Reports to: Physiotherapy Manager in Charge III Salary: Appointment will be made in line with Government pay policy.    Senior Physiotherapist   €59,478 to €70,033     Hours of work:  Full-Time Closing Date: 12 noon on 9/5/2024   Please note the hospital reserves the right to close the competition early should a substantial number of applications be received.     Position Summary:   The post holder will carry a caseload for inpatient acute rehab for medical and surgical wards. Caseload will consist of, (but not limited to) post-surgical patients (plastics, vascular, general surgery), post medical illness and Frailty/Care of the Older Person. The post holder will lead a team of staff grade Physiotherapists and a Physiotherapy assistant and work closely with the wider Care of the Older Persons service. Multidisciplinary Team engagement to providing optimum ward and gym based rehabilitation along with active discharge planning and optimising pathways of care are the key components of this role. 

Post Title: Senior Speech & Language Therapist Post Status: Permanent Department Speech & Language Therapy Location: Beaumont Hospital, Dublin 9  Reports to: Speech & Language Therapy Manager Salary: Appointment will be made on the Senior Speech & Language Therapist salary scale (€54,136- €63,743) at a point in line with Government pay policy.  Hours of work:  Full-time, 35 hours per week Closing Date:  April 30th 2024 at 12:00pm   Position Summary: The Speech and Language therapy department in Beaumont Hospital provides specialist services to a number of clinical areas within the hospital. At this time, there are a variety of senior SLT vacancies in different clinical specialisms. This competition will offer candidates an opportunity to apply to join the SLT team and work in one of a range of clinical areas. Current clinical specialisms that hold vacancies include neurosurgery, ENT/oncology and care of the older person. - Neurosurgery: Beaumont Hospital is the national centre for Neurosurgery and the senior SLT in Neurosurgery is a unique SLT role in Ireland. This therapist will work with patients who present with a range of conditions and have undergone neurosurgical intervention. The therapist will also lead on our awake craniotomy service. - ENT/Oncology: The ENT/Oncology SLT service consists of a number of roles across radiation, medical and surgical oncology. This senior role is based in the ENT/surgical oncology part of the service, working with both in and outpatients. - Care of the Older Person: The care of the older person SLT service consists of 5 senior therapists who work in a number of different settings - ED Frailty Intervention Therapy team (FITT), the acute specialist care of the older person wards, Day Hospital, Rehabilitation unit and Raheny community nursing unit. Some of these roles are currently vacant and these roles are based on both the main hospital site and on the St Joseph’s campus in Raheny. There is the opportunity for each senior SLT to work through all aspects of the care of the older person service through the means of long rotations. Senior speech and language therapists work with people with both communication and swallowing difficulties in their assigned clinical area, across both inpatients and outpatient services. They have responsibility for the co-ordination and development of the service in that area alongside other SLT colleagues and the SLT manager. The successful candidates will be an integral part of a well-structured SLT team with excellent support and opportunities for CPD. The SLT team work across both the Beaumont hospital campus and the St Joseph’s hospital site in Raheny. All seniors SLT work closely with their SLT and MDT colleagues with excellent opportunities for learning and team working.
